Hatching of ChickyHip
In the beginning......there was a woman who had devoted 20 odd years to nursing and was becoming frustrated by lack of resources and political pressure. In other words there were too many meetings and too little time for patients. She soon, however, (long story short...) found herself in the midst of an upheaval from Scotland to Cheshire. It was the ideal opportunity and the right time for change! And so she began to hatch a plan! Bear in mind this is a Woman who has a PhD in shopping, and understands the therapeutic effect of a beautiful purchase, especially jewellery: unique, hand-crafted and "a bargain!" So suppliers were sourced and samples were bought, and a few mistakes were made, but she began to discover many craftsmen and designers around the World who were striving to help themselves out of poverty. It seemed only natural that she should want to support and empower such people, rather than contribute to their exploitation. Hence, only small or "one off" quantities of each item are available as bulk buying is not part of the plan. She is lucky to have found a handful of reliable & good-natured designers and craftsmen, who supply the affordable, the beautiful & the unique. You will find an impressive collection of high quality and eye catching jewellery, as well as some carefully chosen accessories, so go on...........treat yourself (or someone else!). After all, this is free range jewellery and you are a free thinking person, so be prepared for many envious looks and inquisitive remarks from the battery hens! While it's impossible to say that all products have been fairly traded, most have come from an ethical source.
